Cookies Policy

What cookies are, which ones we set on nightsindia.com, why we use them and how you can manage or block them.

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, which ones we use on nightsindia.com, why we use them, how long they stay on your device, and how you can control or switch them off. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers how we handle personal data more generally.

11. Who we are

Nights India operates nightsindia.com and is the controller for any personal data processed through cookies on this site. If you have a question about this policy or want to exercise your privacy rights, email us at info@nightsindia.com.

22. What cookies & similar technologies are

A cookie is a tiny text file a website stores in your browser when you visit. On your next visit the browser sends it back, so the site can remember things between pages — for example that you have already confirmed a notice. Cookies cannot run programs and cannot read anything on your device beyond the data the site itself stored.

Alongside cookies we also use similar technologies, mainly your browser's local storage. For the purposes of this policy these work the same way — they keep a small value in your browser — so wherever we say "cookie" below, please read it as "cookie or equivalent browser storage".

33. How cookies are classified

Cookies are usually described in three ways.

By who sets them

  • First-party — set by nightsindia.com itself; we are responsible for these.
  • Third-party — set by an outside service whose content loads on a page (for example a content-delivery network). That provider is responsible for them under its own policy.

By purpose

  • Strictly necessary / technical — required for the site to work (signing in, securing forms). These do not need consent.
  • Functional — remember choices, such as that you confirmed your age or closed a notice.
  • Analytics — help us count visitors and see which pages are read so we can improve the site.
  • Profiling / advertising — used to build a profile and show targeted ads. We do not use these.

By how long they last

  • Session — deleted automatically when you close the browser.
  • Persistent — stay until a set expiry or until you clear them.

44. Cookies & storage we use (first-party)

These are the cookies our own code on nightsindia.com sets; our hosting provider’s security check may set its own. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics.

  • sk_sid (technical · up to 1 year) — the session cookie, set when you first open a page. It carries the security token that protects forms (contact, sign-up, login and reports) and keeps you signed in if you log in, including on our blog. It is renewed while you keep using the site. Forms and logins cannot work without it.
  • ageVerifiedTimestamp (functional · 30 days) — remembers that you confirmed you are 18 or older, so the age notice is not shown on every page.
  • cookiesAcceptedTimestamp (functional · 30 days) — remembers that you closed the cookie notice.
  • site_v (counting · 24 hours) — set when you open an ad. It holds short codes for the ads you opened, so each view is counted only once.
  • site_c (counting · 12 hours) — set when you tap an ad’s call or WhatsApp button, on ads where those buttons are available. It holds short codes for the buttons you tapped, so each tap is counted only once.

We also keep a few items in your browser’s local storage:

  • Age and cookie notices — a copy of the notice cookies above.
  • Favourites — the ads you save to your favourites (each ad’s name, photo and city), until you remove them.
  • Install prompt — when you closed the “install app” banner, so it stays hidden for 30 days.
  • Remember me — your email address, only if you tick “Remember me” when you log in.
  • Ad draft — what you have typed into a new ad, until the draft is saved to your account.
  • Dashboard — small settings for members, such as whether the menu is collapsed and which notices you have already seen.

None of these cookies or items is used to track you on other sites. Apart from “Remember me” and an unsaved ad draft, they do not hold your name, email address or phone number.

55. Third-party services

Some pages load a file or a check from an outside service. When they do, that service may set or read its own cookies under its own policy:

  • Cloudflare Turnstile — the human check on the contact, sign-up and login forms.
  • jsDelivr — the photo viewer on ad pages and the text editor in the post-ad form.
  • DMCA.com — the protection badge image in the footer.
  • cdnjs (Cloudflare) and Google Firebase — only in the post-ad form, for the photo cropper and, when it is switched on, phone-number checks.
  • WhatsApp and Telegram — only if you tap their buttons. Once you leave our site, their own policies apply.

We do not run third-party analytics, advertising networks, social-media tracking pixels or behavioural-profiling cookies on nightsindia.com.

66. Your choices

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics. The cookies listed above are used to run the site and to count ad views and, where contact buttons are available, contact taps. The cookie notice shown on your first visit tells you this; choosing “OK” closes it for 30 days.

You can delete or block this site’s cookies and local storage in your browser at any time (see the next section). The notices will then appear again on your next visit.

77. Managing cookies in your browser

You can block, delete or limit cookies from your browser settings. Official guides:

Private / incognito mode also clears most cookies automatically when you close the window.

88. If you block cookies

The site will still open and most pages will work. However, you'll have to confirm the 18+ notice on every visit, and the contact, sign-up and login forms will fail because their security token cannot be stored. We recommend allowing cookies from nightsindia.com at a minimum.

99. Your data-protection rights

Where data-protection law applies to you, you have the right to:

  • Access — ask whether we hold personal data about you and get a copy.
  • Rectification — have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your data where the law allows.
  • Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data in certain cases.
  • Portability — receive data you gave us in a common, machine-readable format.
  • Object — object to certain processing of your data.
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting processing carried out before you withdrew it.

To exercise any of these, email info@nightsindia.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

1010. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when we add or remove a cookie, change how long one lasts, or add a new third-party service. The date below shows when this version went live.
